The Saint James Hospital laboratory is equipped with state of the art equipment, ensuring continuity of care and enabling us to cope with high demands from consultants and patients alike.

Laboratory medicine performed on-site includes : Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Histopathology, Microbiology, Cytology, Immunology, Toxicology and Virology.

Also incorporated, is an Assisted Conception Unit, performing a comprehensive range of procedures to assist in fertility problems. The procedures include : Semen Analysis, Sperm Washings for Intra Uterine Inseminations, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection ( ICSI ), and Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA).

The laboratory is run by a dedicated group of professionals, all qualified in diverse fields. Thus, each discipline of laboratory medicine is addressed by an experienced scientist. Supporting clerical and administrative staff, ensure results and reports are dispatched quickly and efficiently.

Internal and external quality controls are monitored constantly and the laboratory is enrolled with the European R I Q A S programme, which assesses accuracy and precision every 15 days.

The main laboratory is situated at Saint James Hospital in Sliema. There are peripheries at Saint James Hospital in Zabbar and Saint James Hospital in Ghajnsielem Gozo.

Opening Hours Are :-

A collection service is offered twice daily from doctor’s clinics anywhere in Malta and a phlebotomy service is offered in Sliema, Zabbar, Mosta and Gozo.
