Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Assessment

About 2 to 5% of school age children can suffer from ADHD. An important diagnosis is essential when dealing with ADHD. Symptoms include inattention and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity. These are traits that most children display at some point or another. However to establish an accurate diagnosis of ADHD, the symptoms should be inappropriate for the child’s age.

At Saint James Hospital our multidisciplinary team of professionals appreciate that every child is unique. This is why they individualise each pathway of care to meet the child’s needs:

■ Assessment
Our team of multidisciplinary professionals hold a meeting to discuss their separate assessments

■ Formulation meeting with family
A discussion with the family is held about initial diagnosis and the intervention plan.

■ Intervention
This could be conducted with the child during school hours or at home.
